In case you need to know or want a refresher, here's a quick lesson on making rice!
Ingredients
Short Grain White rice
*(can substitute with short grain brown rice)
Prep
Get Rice cooker and something to measure rice with.
(rice scoop or measuring cup)
Steps
1. Measure out desired amount of rice
About 3 cups of uncooked rice can feed four people so imagine portions from that
2. Wash rice with plain tap water. Usually four washes is enough.
3. Fill rice cooker with rice and water (preferred filter water). Most rice cookers have lines inside the pot to tell you how much water to put in. For those, you match the number of cups of rice to the number on the pot.
If not, the proportion is about 1 1/4 cups water : 1 cup rice.
*Note: Most rice scoops are usually less than a full cup so keep that in mind.
4. Cover rice cooker with lid and turn on. Let it cook until light turns off (about 40 minutes).
5. Remove lid from rice cooker and let it cool for about 1 minute. Use a rice paddle or scoop to scrape the rice off the bottom to prevent burning.
6. Rice is ready to be served!
*Disclaimer: If you don't own a rice cooker, you can technically make rice in a normal pot. The steps are the same except you would be cooking the rice on medium low heat covered the whole time. The pot needs to be 3 times bigger than the amount of rice you are cooking. This is because cooked rice almost doubles in size. The cooking time varies between 25-50 minutes. It is recommended that you would watch the pot while it is cooking.
thank u the rice turned out very flavorful
