Japanese-Style Okra

Not your typical Japanese vegetable, but all of the familiar flavors you know. This style of cooking is lightly based on teriyaki style of cooking. This recipe only involves your plain ingredients, some sauce and a pan to cook in!

Makes about 1/2 lbs worth or about 226 grams of okra.

Ingredients

1/2 lbs or 225 grams of Okra

1/2 teaspoon of butter

1/4 teaspoon of soy sauce

Prep

  1. Wash the okra with cold water while rubbing salt on them (you only need about a teaspoon of salt).

  2. Rinse well with cold water again. Remove excess salt.

  3. Slice diagonally. Not too thin or it will burn!

*See picture for approximate sizing.

  • Increase to a medium heat and allow oil to become hot (about 1 minute of heating).
